Dashboard Confessional & Third Eye Blind @ The Fillmore Auditorium, 7/9/15
First off, I would like to formally apologize for how many photos of Dashboard Confessional you're about to look at. I didn't mean for it to happen, but it sort of did... haha.
Anyway, this show was incredible! The lighting for all three bands was some of the best I’ve ever shot (can you say ISO 1600 with a 1/800 shutter speed?) and they were all amazing to watch. I’ve been waiting to see Augustana for years, because I seem to miss them every time they’re in town, and didn’t even realize they were playing this show until a week prior. They were incredible (naturally) and I’m glad I finally got to see/shoot them.
Third Eye Blind was also really cool, especially as someone who grew up listening to them. Their lights were probably the best production I’ve shot in a very long time, and it was obvious that they cared about photographers getting good shots, considering they gave us songs 4-6 to shoot instead of songs 1-3. It was apparent why when their first three songs were lit mainly by strobes, while the rest of their set had gorgeous lights and spotlighting.
In fact, this was probably the best I’ve ever been treated at a show as a photographer. Third Eye Blind was awesome, but nothing will beat Dashboard Confessional. After the third song, Chris Carrabba leaned down and told security to let photographers to stay, then proceeded to tell us that we could shoot their entire set as long as we moved around so the people in the front row could see and as long as we were having fun. Needless to say, it was the coolest experience ever! (Hence why I have a million photos of them.) Chris Carrabba is an incredible human and I’m so grateful that I got the chance to shoot him for the second time this year. It’s definitely weird going from shooting Twin Forks at a small capacity bar to shooting Dashboard at a huge auditorium… Haha.
Anyway, enjoy the photos! They’re some of my favorites so far this year!
