February 2017 Photo Blog

I'm pretty sure this is the most amount of shows I've ever shot in the short month of February, and they were all really challenging yet rewarding and most of all, fun to shoot!

I also finally pulled the trigger and got a new camera this month. After almost 5 years of using my D700, it was time, and I absolutely love the new one already. This month was all about experimenting and really pushing myself to get photos that would have normally been challenging to capture. I don't know how the rest of 2017 is going to top this amazing month of shows, but I'm ready to try!

2/7/17 - K Flay @ The Black Sheep

This was my first Interscope show of 2017 and it was so much fun! It had been a while since I shot a show at The Black Sheep and I was a little nervous that I wasn't going to get great photos, but I managed to find a nice space in front of a really nice really tall guy and captured these! K Flay is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists to shoot. She's so much fun!

2/11/17 - VYNYL & Manic @ The Marquis

I have been dying to do some promos in the hallway at The Marquis for a very long time now, so I did just that during this little last minute shoot with VYNYL (who you should definitely check out because they're wonderful.) I also did some fun promos with Manic and shot their sets at The Marquis while I was at it. Nothing beats shooting passionate local artists!

2/16/17 - SKYBURIAL, The Burial Plot, Remain and Sustain, Lonely Bones & The Common Good @ Moon Room

Speaking of passionate local artists, this was a really fun show to shoot! I love the wonderful people in Skyburial and The Burial Plot and the rest of the bands at this show were super fun to shoot! So much energy. I could go on and on about how much I love shooting shows like this, but I'll just let the photos do the talking.

2/21/17 - Too Close To Touch, Waterparks & Creeper @ The Marquis

Too Close To Touch are some of my favorite humans. It's insane that just a little over a year ago, I watched them open up a show at The Marquis to a crowd of people who had no idea who they are, and now they're almost selling out entire tours. This was definitely the best they've ever sounded and these are some of my favorite photos I've ever taken of them. Waterparks were super fun to shoot as well, and Creeper is amazing for inviting me to shoot on stage. Angels, all of them! (Also, this was the first show I shot with my new camera and I was practically crying tears of joy because of how much I love it.)

2/22/17 - Emo Nite @ The Marquis

Emo Nite will forever be one of my favorite things to shoot. Ever. This one was super special because it was their first sold out Denver show and it was freaking packed. I can't wait for the next one!

2/24/17 - Dance Gavin Dance & Chon @ The Black Sheep

This show was a little difficult to shoot, but so much fun! I finally got to play around with my 70-200 at The Black Sheep and really push the limits on my new camera for the first time, and I'm really happy with the way these photos came out.

2/26/17 - Electric Guest @ The Bluebird

Electric Guest was actually another really difficult shoot. The lights were terrible and kind of ugly colors, but again, it let me really push my camera's limits. This actually ended up being one of the more rewarding shows I shot this month, just because I was worried that I wasn't going to get any great photos, but walked away with quite a few that I really like.
